Go on welfare!

i am going to make this short.

i ran into a older jw women who i have known my whole life.

she is pushing 80 and will never change.

I know of several JW that have abused the system in the USA and many non-JW. It isn't that difficult to gain the system. However the lifestyle welfare provides isn't something that I would want.

There are plenty of folks though that don't mind collecting. A non-married couple with four children can get about $20,000 in cash and another $20,000 in other entitlements legally. I did taxes for a few semester for the IRS and my university as an outreach program and saw it first hand. They will need to have part-time jobs earning some money to accomplish it. Heck, now with the internet it is so easy to apply for benefits. The are lots of federal, state, and local programs that people are unaware of.

The Org is terrified of apostates

i knew apostasy was a serious concern for the org, but until i watched this video, i had no idea how afraid they actually were.

all this guy wants is to do is not turn in his fs hours and immediately they (elders) set about drilling him about who are what influenced his decision, as if he was incapable of making his own (which as the elders confirm, in the org is highly discouraged).

they are convinced he has been communicating with apostates or visiting apostate web sites.

I love when I call out ppl like InsidetheKH, SimonSays ect.. about joining and participating in a known "apostate" site they simply ignore the fact they are disobeying their masters.

SimonSays is a very dedicated Apostate. It is good to see a fellow Apostate so active on our board. Your rebellion to the Governing Body is a great sign of your distaste for the spiritual food they provide.

GB Helper at the RC! ( Regional Convention )

The GB helpers are the ones being groomed for GB membership. I saw one last year being worshiped by several JW's. It was sickening.

Local (small) Baptist church bought my neighbor a car

and elderly woman who lives across the street from me has had some hard economic times.

her adult son got injured and had to move back in with her due to his inability to work.

they are struggling.

In the congregation I was in we had a "sister" who was about 10 years into her MS (Multiple Sclerosis). She was now wheel chair bound and was becoming more dependent on care. The elders in our congregation were not caring and our congregation in general viewed this "sister" as an inconvenience. She eventually moved up north into a new congregation that took care of her till she died. The congregation I was raised in as a whole didn't do much but their was certain individuals that would help those in needs. I wonder how the average JW congregation is in the treatment of those in need?

how do opperating costs, come up to $2300 in one frikkin day?.

Being tax exempt, and all work is volunteer that only leaves utilities, insurance, and depreciation. They removed all the real cost decades ago when they stop serving food.

I have three different recurring dreams for the past 20 years. I learned they are quite common dream types. The human brain is amazing and it is interesting how it tries to resolve conflict while we sleep.

I've been meaning to ask what other terms are used for lawyers in the US

ive been for holidays to california and i didn't get in trouble with the law but there is a question i would like to put to our american friends are there other names you use for a lawyer.. here in australia mostly a lawyer is called a solicitor and i herd of a businessman who visited the states.

he went to an event where there were a lot of lawyers and he called the lawyers solicitors.

his american friends thought he meant prostitutes.

Not sure of all the terminology in reference to lawyers, but I know Counsel and Attorney is also used here for lawyer. A prosecutor is a type of lawyer here too.

The Royal Commission and Watchtower - A game changer

i had finished watching all the videos on the royal commission's investigation of jehovah's witnesses (yes, i know more videos are being released).

i am still processing the information of everything that has emerged.

i do not plan to cover it all here, but i would like to point out that it is patently obvious that some of the wt representatives provided misleading information.

Physical discipline was rampant in my congregation in the 80's and calmed down quite a bit when I left in the 90's. I belonged to a small congregation with a small kingdom hall. On Thursday nights when the congregation was barely 40ish you could hear the spankings coming from the back restrooms.
